Beginners learning to go forward.

Intermediates learning to stop.

Adults learning to go backward.

Learn to Skate is offered through the Eagles' Ice-A-Rena. This six week program is for ages five and up, including adults. Instruction is provided by our own coaches and volunteers from LCFSC. The program is designed to teach the basic skills of ice skating as outlined by U S Figure Skating. These skills are necessary for all skaters, from the casual recreational skater to the competive figure skaters and hockey players. At the very least, you'll exit this program knowing how to do such useful things as stroke forward and backward, stop (even more useful!) perform crossovers and maybe even a basic spin! The groups are divided by skill level and age, with two instructors for each subgroup, giving ample time for individual attention

Pre-School 3-6 year olds
For those kidlets who want a real jump-start on their hockey, figure, or just plain fun skating future, LCFSC coach Berkley Villard teaches this special combination of instruction and games. Skaters are divided into two groups, beginners and those who are solid on their skates. Beginners concentrate on getting those skates moving. The goal is to gain confidence through skill-building activities and games. The hour is divided into a 5-10 minute warm up, 20-30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of free time.

The advanced group is still concentrating on those basic, but learning more competitive and advanced skills as well. They have their free time during that first half hour, instruction during the second.

Berkley is great with both kids and parents, working with both to help the child get the most out the experience.

The Skater's Edge skating packages are the perfect follow-up to Learn to Skate. Skater's Edge focusses on teaching the skills and basic fundmentals to be a successful skater. The "Skater's Edge" incorporates both on- and off-ice training to enhance confidence, strength, and endurance.  Along with providing excellent physical exercise, this approach teaches each skater how to have fun and enjoy the sport of figure skating.

The program director is our own Randy Clark. The talented Meegan McDonald joins him to instruct the classes.

We encourage anyone interested in ice skating to come and experience our Winter Skating Fun.
